External welded plate and frame heat exchangers are a type of heat exchanger commonly used in industrial processes for efficient heat transfer between two fluids.
They consist of a series of corrugated metal plates that are welded together to form a frame. Each plate typically has a pattern of grooves or channels to facilitate the flow of the fluids and maximize the surface area for heat exchange.

The two fluids involved in the heat exchange process flow through alternate channels formed between the plates. One fluid flows through the channels on the odd-numbered plates, while the other fluid flows through the channels on the even-numbered plates.
